UPDATED -- Hurricane Sandy

What follows are additional efforts to help provide support to our community in the aftermath of Sandy and in general. Most important, though – if you or someone you know needs help, e-mail us at JewishMonmouthSandyResponse@Gmail.com.

Emergency assistance and funding
Thanks to a grant from the Jewish Federation, Jewish Family & Children’s Services has funds available for emergency assistance, including gift cards and cash grants of up to $500 for critical needs. Additional funding has been targeted to help those most in need due to Hurricane Sandy. Please contact JF&CS at 732-774-6886 for more information and intake.

Kosher Meals on Wheels
Regular delivery of Kosher Meals on Wheels is available to adults age 60+ who have mobility or financial limitations. To best help those who may be most at risk in the aftermath of Sandy, we have temporarily expanded availability of the Kosher Meals on Wheels program to anyone over age 60 who could use some help in the interim. Pending a home evaluation by JF&CS, some may be eligible to join the program long-term. To sign up, please contact JoAnn at Joanne Glassoff at 732-774-6886, Ext. 40, or by e-mail: jglassoff@jfcsmonmouth.org.

Hebrew Free Loans
We partner with JF&CS to offer Hebrew Free Loans, and are expanding the possible size of the loan and payback period to best assist with businesses and others in the Jewish community rebuilding from the storm. Contact JF&CS at 732-774-6886 for more information and intake.

Counseling and other Social Services
JF&CS is your one-stop shop. For those in need, some of these services may be free; others at a modest cost – all are high quality. Contact JF&CS at 732-774-6886 for more information and intake.

Scholarship funding
Day schools and Hebrew Schools: If students in Day Schools or Hebrew Schools require additional scholarships directly in response to Hurricane Sandy, please contact your school, who should forward such requests to Ariella Raviv at the Jewish Federation: ariellar@jewishmonmouth.org.

Jewish Camps and Israel Experiences
The Jewish Federation also provides needs-based support for Jewish experiential programs, including Jewish Camps and Israel Experiences. Support is given up to $500 currently for Jewish overnight camps and Israel experiences, and up to $250 for Jewish Day Camps. For more information or to apply, contact ariellar@jewishmonmouth.org. Additional scholarship resources may be available to those who may not be able to afford such programs in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Please indicate any needs in response to the hurricane.
